FAQ

About the wedding venue, Fiore Winery: The ceremony will be held outdoors, weather permitting, and the reception will be held indoors (with A/C). There is plenty of space for car parking. Most areas are wheelchair accessible. The tasting room will be open to the public all day. You're welcome to visit the tasting room and to explore the vineyard grounds during the reception.

Vegetarian food will be available at the reception lunch. If you have any particular dietary needs or serious allergies, please let us know.

Please make your own arrangements for childcare if needed.

Consider wearing shoes practical for contradancing and walking on grass. The floor in one of the two reception hall rooms is grooved in a way that might present problems for very narrow heels.

Please return your RSVP cards, or email us with your reply, by July 1st.

August 14 Reception in Iowa

The reception in Iowa will be held at the Simpson Barn in Johnston, Iowa; the main space is not air conditioned, though we will have large fans, and there is an air conditioned space downstairs.

Song and Dance

Both the reception immediately following the wedding ceremony and the reception in Johnston, Iowa the following week will include Sacred Harp singing and contradancing.

These are two activities that we each enjoyed before we met and that we continue to enjoy together. They are participatory activities around which strong communities have formed, and through which we've met many of our closest friends and most interesting acquaintances. Many of our guests are people we think of as singers and/or dancers, and we're sure they'll understand that singing and dancing are the most natural forms of celebration for us. For those friends and family members who aren't yet familiar with these activities, we hope that you'll enjoy the introduction to these activities and communities that are so important to us. Even more, we hope you'll give them a try!

If you'd like to explore -- or even "practice," if you will -- before celebrating with us in August, you can almost certainly find events near you listed on these directories:
